Advent

"Prepare the way for the Lord." - John the Baptist

Is your path clear leading up to the celebration of Emmanuel- God with us? What is the resistance along the way? What are the potholes? Boulders?

The potholes represent the emptiness in life. Maybe the things time is spent most on are those things that don't REALLY matter- the things that don't fulfill; or maybe the things that should have been done, have been left undone. What are the potholes in life that need to be filled in? What will they be filled with?

The boulders represent the opposite- things in our lives that shouldn't be there; or things we've done that we shouldn't have. Repentance is to confess and leave, running the opposite way. Repentance is also to remove completely. "Go and sin no more"- Jesus. What are the boulders that need to be removed? How will they be removed?

Advent is a time to reflect and prepare for the greatest coming ever. God became man and lived among us! We should take this time to prepare for the coming... as if we knew He would be physically coming over to stay in our houses for awhile. We have the benefit of knowing that He did come, lived among us, died for us, and now lives again. Because of this, we have access to His presence within us! Open up to His transforming presence during this Advent season and allow Him to show you your potholes and boulders. He will clear the path, and show you the Way.

Suggestion: Slowly read the first few chapters of each of the first 4 books of the New Testament- Matthew, Mark, Luke and John- over the next few weeks. Ask God to change you as you do so.

Blessings to you during this Advent season!
