The journey of discovery has taken us to many different places- both internally and externally. Some constants throughout this path have been the presence of God and the presence of people, and learning to become more true to each. God has transformed us by placing us in the midst of all types of people. Those people have helped us grow closer to God by revealing to us more of his characteristics. After all, man was created in the image of God; therefore, different people reveal different things about who God is. Through God leading us to different places and different people, He has changed us each step of the way. Now, we are ready for the next place and a new people.
Stronger than ever is the Holy Spirit’s current stirring in our hearts. Through communion with Him, His movements in our hearts through His Word, past and present relationships with people, dreams and visions, and the passion to share Jesus with those who do not yet know Him have interconnected to form a mysterious map which will take us into the next season of our lives preparing us for the rising spirit of Anti- Christ that is among us. We are ready to leave behind the last vestiges of worldly bounds, and grab hold firmly to Christ without looking back.
So strong is the desire and need for pure community in Christ with people, that we are ready to give our lives for it. Over the past several years, becoming true to God and people has been at the heart of the journey. Becoming available and vulnerable before God and man has resulted in reconnecting with God’s natural design for our lives, as opposed to our own design or the design others have for us. Although realizing this fully will never be perfectly attained, the pursuit of pure community is a worthy one. Consequently, we move on and “move in” with those kindreds who have also been taken along this path.
All over the world, an apostolic and prophetic movement is taking place. God is providing common dreams and visions to many. Small communities who share, pray and love for the sake of the kingdom are being established. We believe God is moving in such a way as to not only provide safe, authentic, self sustaining communities for Christ followers, but to also have these communities be launching pads sending people all over the world to work at other similar communities. One of these communities is beginning to take shape in Globe, Arizona. We will be joining this community, as God has prompted us to do so. Over the past four years, it has been on our hearts to move to Globe. We helped get vida e caffe started in this small mining town with our good friends (the Bakers) who reside in the area. Close friends of ours from California (the Kims) will be moving to Globe at the same time. It is with these faithful folks, and potentially others, that we will begin the next season of community living and God connecting.
Regarding Globe, God has been shaping this area over the past several years changing the spiritual authority within the community. Longtime strongholds have been broken through powerful and divinely directed prayer. Leadership has changed within the community breaking the town free of long, corrupt politics. New vision has arrived and action is being initiated based on relational values and volunteerism. The dream of a “city without a church” is becoming reality in this small mining town. The city itself is becoming the church! This is remarkable, and we feel it is time we fully join the movement in Globe infusing more hard work, active vision, and support to those who are already participating in this incredible transformation of a town.
Another important reason for this move is the San Carlos Apache Indian Reservation, where there is much need for God’s transforming power. This unique people group is bound by darkness in many ways. We desire to bring the light, life and hope of Jesus to these people through the building of relationships, and through simply working hard among them. As we move into the area, we pray God will show us the way by which we may see the Apache people become followers of Jesus. At the same time, we hope to learn more about these people, their traditions, and the qualities of their ancient history.
This endeavor will be initiated for the sake of community- both secular and sacred. It is not being established in isolation from the world, but for the sake of prayer, love, hospitality and service toward those within the greater community around us. The hope is to be a light in the midst of darkness, and that this light will penetrate resulting in sight for many! From a different angle, the light emanating from this pursuit of Christ centered unity will provide protection against the increasing darkness of this world, and refuge for those struggling against it.
Creativity in community is highly valued within this context. Through the collection of unique personalities within the base camp community, many ventures will come about for the betterment of the Globe area as well as for the support of the base camp itself. Expanding on the already blessed venture of vida e caffe, other business/ community ventures will arise providing testimony of God’s love for the entire city, and the city will know that we are Christians by our love for each other!
There will likely be much resistance to this movement, and it will not be easy. From our own flesh to the forces of spiritual darkness, there will be much opposition. Please pray for us. Please pray for a pure and holy passion for Jesus that will overcome and gain victory over resistance. Please pray that we would remain available to His design, and not try to place our own desires over His. More and more, we become less concerned with our own comforts and securities and more desirous of the fulfillment of His Great Commission.
