Thanks for commenting on our blog! You mentioned how you liked the clapping at Noah's baptism and how it is different than in the mormon church. We see baptism as a huge celebration because it represents how a person has decided to give their life to Jesus and be cleansed from his/her sins. It is a beautiful picture of how the old life of sin and bondage is gone, and the new life of freedom in Christ has come. Here's some info I wrote about baptism a while back with some scriptures to look up as well:
Baptism is an expression of new life in Christ. It is a symbol representing the cleansing power that takes place when one repents of his/her sin. When a person repents and is baptized, the old life dies in the likeness of Christ's death and the new life begins in the likeness of His resurrection. For this reason, we fully immerse a new follower of Jesus in water "burying" and washing him/her clean, then the person is "raised" from the water clean and new!
Baptism is a public proclamation and celebration of the new life one has in Christ. It is a testimony of the great forgiving and changing power of the Savior. It is always a holy time where the Good News of Jesus is shared in community!
I liked that you all clapped after he was baptised. How nice. Mormon baptisms are very quiet and just a tiny bit different.
